High end case goods and upholstery manufacturer Theodore Alexander is launching a new collection at the April High Point Market with famed architect and designer Steve Leung.

Luxury in Serenity is a whole home collection that represents the first in a series of lifestyle groups that Theodore Alexander plans this year.

It uses a mix of materials that range from Italian marble and nautical grade stainless steel to soft velvet and quilted leather. The collection is named for the curved shapes and movement in forms seen in pieces such as the Pirouette dining table, which has a marble top that rests on a tapered leather wrapped base decorated with spiraling diamond stitching. Other key pieces include the Covet sofa, which is upholstered in a diamond stitched velvet fabric that contrasts against a leather body.

“Luxury in Serenity explores the concept of a personal retreat with an ambience of warmth and relaxation,” Leung said. “With Luxury in Serenity, we have created a moment of tranquility, an indulgent space to relax, reinvigorate and enjoy life with family and friends. Throughout the collection, inviting, gently curved surfaces embody this theme with cosset armchairs and expressive backrests to evoke the feeling of protection and sanctuary.”

“Working closely with the Theodore Alexander craftsman, each individual piece in the collection has been carefully refined to achieve absolute perfection in proportion and rich tactile detailing,” Leung added.

Born in Hong Kong, China in 1957, Leung has overseen extensive projects in China and other overseas markets. In 2015, he was named winner of the Andrew Martin International Designer of the Year Award and has also won various Andrew Martin International Interior Design awards 13 times since 1999.

He also has been named among the 30 Most Influential Designers by Forbes China and he and his team have been credited with more than 130 design and corporate awards in the Asia Pacific region and worldwide.

The Luxury in Serenity collection will debut at Theodore Alexander’s showroom at 229 West Russell Ave. in High Point during the April 22-26 High Point Market.
