PrimeDay traffic crashes Amazon
    July 17,2018

Apparently Amazon's PrimeDay is turning out to be a huge success. So big in fact it has crashed the retailer's servers. Twitter today lit up as consumers looked to confirm that the pictures of cute dogs saying "Oops" was not unique to their experience but was in fact a sign that the retailer's site was having problems.

#PrimeDay was the top hashtag on Twitter on Monday as users flooded the site in search of answers. Other related trending hashtags included #amazonbroketheinternet and #primedayfail.

An effort by Furniture Today to test purchase options for a Stone & Beam sofa ended up on the page shown above. The website downdetector.com reports that Amazon began experiencing reports of outages around 3:05 and the report's comment section filled quickly with users sharing their experiences.

On its Twitter feed Amazon responded, telling consumers that "some customers" were having difficulty, while also claiming that sales in the first hour this year exceeded those of 2017.
