Xiaomi Launches Home Furniture Made of European Eucalyptus Through Its Crowdfunding Platform
    July 28,2018

Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi has diversified its offerings by expanding into the home furniture industry. The company has been aggressive in its diversification plans as it has expanded into a wide range of consumer electronics apart from smartphones and now it has entered a different industry altogether.

Gaoya Whole House Set:

The Chinese multinational corporation has launched its own set of home furniture through its crowdfunding platform. Xiaomi has partnered up with the popular Master Tong brand to launch the Gaoya Whole House set. This housing set is a complete and wholesome package that contains all furniture required to decorate a Chinese home.

What does the Whole house set contain?

The Gaoya Whole house set has twenty-five pieces of furniture that can adorn a Chinese Home ranging from the bedroom all the way to the dining room. The furniture set contains the following twenty-five pieces:

Ø  Dining Room pieces: four x dining chairs, two x dining stools, one dining table, one small square center table and two x small chairs.

Ø  Study Room pieces: one book chair, one desk piece accompanying it and a bookcase.

Ø  Bedroom pieces: two x bedside tables, one chest of drawers, one-floor hanger and one 1.9 meters double bed

Ø  Living Room pieces: One coffee table, one corner sofa, one single seat sofa, one three seat sofa, one TV cabinet, one shoe cabinet and one leisure step

The furniture pieces are made from authentic European eucalyptus wood that is imported, a PVD gold plated brass as well as an American first layer cowhide. The furniture has a simple and yet luxurious look and is well suited for different kinds of setups. The furniture will be shipped to buyers with the help of SF Logistics. The furniture set will be available for sale from 7th of October this year and will be priced at Yuan 29,000 (which is approximately $ 4,500). This is surely set to excite all of Xiaomi’s fans, who will now be looking at home furniture offerings apart from electronics from one of China’s biggest corporate names.

Xiaomi’s diversification attempts:

This hasn’t been the first attempt that the Chinese giant has had on diversifying its offerings from smartphones. Xiaomi has established supremacy on smartphones in the domestic market in China and it sells the most smartphones in foreign markets like India. It has followed this up by diversifying into several consumer electronic devices including other devices that are powered by its proprietary MiUI Operating System.

The MiUI runs the Android Powered smartphones produced by Xiaomi and similarly, the company has designed tablets, laptops, Wi devices, Set-top boxes (Mi TV), Mi Smartwatches and Mi Power Banks. The Chinese giant has also entered the mobile services business with the launch of several apps that can be used by Mi Users. These include Mi Cloud, the company’s own cloud storage and computing services and Mi Talk, which is the company’s proprietary instant messaging app that is available for both Android and iOS users.

The company’s biggest move outside the consumer electronics segment came in the form of its Smart Home products. Under this brand, Xiaomi launched its own set of Blood Pressure monitors, Air Purifiers, Water Purifiers, Mi Auto Vacuum, Webcam, Action Camera and weighing scale. The company has also designed a smart home solution kit, which is essentially a sensor that lets users detect thirty different functions including if the door/window has been left open or if the lights or on. The company even manufactured its own set of self-balancing scooter – Ninebot Mini as a competitor to the Segway.
