On July 15th, Outer, the fastest growing DTC home furnishing brand in 2020, announced the opening of its 1,000th "Neighborhood Showroom", becoming the largest peer-to-peer showroom platform in the United States.
Outer's "Neighborhood Showroom" program allows consumers to browse a series of unique local showrooms on the Internet before purchasing furniture, make an appointment to visit nearby families that use Outer outdoor furniture, and experience Outer products firsthand. To put it simply, the "Neighborhood Showroom" rents out the owner's own space like Airbnb, but only rents out outdoor areas instead of accommodation, such as balconies and gardens.
Different from the traditional furniture exhibition hall experience, the landlord of the "Neighborhood Showroom" will answer visitors' questions on the spot, unlike the salesman in the exhibition hall. There is no sales script, and the homeowner will be paid a certain amount regardless of whether the visitor finally buys it.
Outer, co-founded by Jiake Liu and Terry Lin, currently operates in 49 states in the United States. This stress-free experience allows consumers to shop in a more relaxed and comfortable environment.
The "Neighborhood Showroom" enables Outer to quickly expand with minimal environmental impact. This start-up company did not waste resources by constructing and maintaining traditional physical exhibition halls. Instead, it used the enthusiasm of households across the country to decorate outdoor environments with furniture for the company.
After reaching this milestone, Outer surveyed its platform users to understand their experience.
The survey results include: more than 80% of landlords said that after joining Outer’s circle, they spent more time in outdoor spaces; 89% of landlords said that after visiting the "neighborhood showroom", they felt that they were "The community is more closely connected".
