Described as “absolutely silent”, Candela’s latest 8.5m hydrofoil electric tender, the C-8, will reach rapid top speeds of 30 knots while remaining emissions-free.
The C-8 will push the same electric hydrofoiling technology seen in Candela’s first electric foiling boat, the C-7, to “the next level”, according to founder and chief executive Gustav Hasselskog.

The model is designed to compete with traditional speedboat models in the same size bracket but with 80% less energy consumption thanks to its hydrofoiling technology, according to the builder.
The best electric superyacht tenders
“We believe we will make several thousand Candela C-8’s over the coming years,” adds Hasselskog. “Once you have tried it, you realise that this is the way boats must look like in the future.”

The tender’s hydrofoil system, which includes the company’s newly developed Candela C-POD direct-drive pod motor, will allow it to cruise for a range of 50 nautical miles on battery power at a speed of 22 knots, with top speeds of 30 knots.
The in-build flight controller meanwhile will automatically adjust the foils to keep the boat steady in adverse weather conditions.
