Fornirama will show in the International Home Furnishings Center, space D-1110, at the Oct. 19-24 market.
Founded in 1975, Fornirama is a family-owned manufacturer of leather and fabric upholstery in traditional, contemporary, modern and transitional style categories in the mid-range retail price points.
For most of the past three decades, the company has focused on servicing retailers in central and eastern Canada, but has decided to expand its horizons with the opening of the High Point showroom.
Best known as the exclusive fashion designer to Ivana Trump, Jean Claude Poitras first showed several of his pieces for Fornirama at this year's Canadian Home Furnishings Market. Two were selected as Market Must Haves, including his asymmetrical club chair with a mobile wooden tray, and a black leather couch with clean lines and timeless chic removable table.
Once dubbed a "man of style" by the Montreal Gazette, Poitras is Quebec's most celebrated men's and women's apparel fashion designer. In the past decade, he has broadened his interests to include interior design, pre-fab houses, tableware, bedding, lamps and kitchens.
His collection for Fornirama includes 12 groups, all featuring solid maple wood frames, eight-way, hand-tied No-Sag springs and 2.6 pound foam in one of soft, medium or hard seating texture with fully supported backs and sides. Each has a tailored finish to its cover.
The collection's average suggested retail for a three-seat sofa is $1,799.
Sales Manager Jeffrey Leuchter said Fornirama chose to work with Poitras not only because he's Canadian but because of his commitment to quality.
