Smartstuff by Universal Furniture has officially announced its entry into the crib market after months of talk about a new crib line. The company will introduce four Smartcribs designs at the ABC Kids Expo, Sept. 7-10 in Las Vegas.
The cribs will be offered in multiple finishes to coordinate with existing kids furniture collections.
“When we decided to enter the crib business, we started with the same premise of Smartstuff: How do new moms and dads really live and care for their babies?” said Jeff Scheffer, president and CEO of Universal. “For us, it starts with taking a smart approach to function and then we begin designing the style of the collection.”
All cribs are designed to convert into a toddler bed and then later into a full-size bed. They will start shipping in November.
In addition, Smartstuff will introduce two youth collections at the October High Point Market with additional collections in early 2015.
“We are working to make life a little more convenient for moms and dads,” Scheffer said. “Just as the arrival of a new baby is a welcomed addition to any family, we’re excited about our entry into cribs. We look forward to becoming an expanded resource for parents, kids and our customers, from cradle through college.”
