High Point Market Authority announces precautions in response to coronavirus
Source:furniture today     February 19,2020

HIGH POINT – The High Point Market Authority said it is closely monitoring the coronavirus diseases, now known as COVID-19, to ensure the safety of all visitors to the spring 2010 market.

The HPMA said that this will include checking updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the State Department and the World Health Organization, which have been posting information about the situation regarding the outbreak as it exists in and outside China.

While the Authority said it has not altered any safety and security measures or preparedness plans in response to the health scare, it has begun conversations with local medical health professionals that regularly provide medical services each spring and fall market. These health care partners include the City of High Point emergency manager, the Guilford County Health Department and emergency manager, and Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center. They provide services ranging from on-site ambulances to EMS bike teams on the streets to act as first responders.

And through an emergency alert system implemented in October 2019, market visitors can choose to receive text message alerts for weather emergencies, health concerns or other security situations.

The market authority said if there is an elevated health risk during a market, these typical preparations can be escalated to include an exterior guest screening area. In addition, ambulances can provide assistance with any quarantine situations that arise. These elevated precautions, the HPMA said, have been implemented during previous markets in response to other health situations including ebola and SARS.
