Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) CEO Kashif Ashfaq said on July 20 that the Pakistani furniture industry has great potential to dominate the global market with innovative designs and make a significant contribution to exports.
However, he said that the furniture industry urgently needs a package of incentives and convenience measures to promote exports. When talking to a delegation of furniture manufacturers, he said: "Unfortunately, the furniture industry is still seriously neglected. Federal and provincial governments need to pay special attention to how to train carpenters on modern production lines."
"We urgently need to open up the international market to promote exports, because Pakistan’ s products have great potential. Now furniture exports are relatively small, but they have made a good start. Coupled with active marketing strategies, the export value can be double in the short term."
The person in charge of the PFC also said that if the government increases support for furniture companies, the export volume in the next five years may reach 5 billion US dollars. Moreover, the leather industry is also related to furniture. He assured the furniture manufacturers that he would provide them with world-class leather for furniture manufacturing.
He urged businessmen to work extensively to promote local industries in Pakistan. "Pakistan has abundant resources, and our people have the best skills to help the country develop along a modern line."
Ashfaq stated that PFC is committed to supporting young Pakistani entrepreneurs related to the furniture and interior design industries. Their innovative thinking is capable of bringing local economic prosperity.
The business community has high hopes for the government led by the Tehreek-e-Insaf Party of Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government is committed to providing businessmen with all the facilities and equipment to increase production and exports. Under his strong leadership, the furniture industry will Flourish.
