RINA has awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) certificate to Meccano Engineering for its 65m explorer yacht project, Orca 65. Once operational, the yacht will feature a dual-fuel engine diesel-methanol propulsion system. “Within our company programme aimed to develop advanced green solutions and projects with low environmental impact,” says Stefano Reggente, President and Managing Director, Meccano Engineering. “We have produced this innovative concept, based on our extensive experience in yacht design, combined with the know-how gained with research and concepts on methanol-ready ships developed in recent years.”

Another €450,000 has been shaved off the asking price of the 26.8-metre Azimut yacht Lulwa, listed for sale with Alain Auvare at Fraser. Delivered in 2020, Lulwa is one of Azimut's popular Grande 27M range with an exterior design courtesy of Stefano Righini and an interior by Salvagni Architetti. The GRP yacht features a tri-deck design, a five-cabin layout and a generous beam measuring 6.6 metres.

Italian shipbuilder Canados has revealed its latest superyacht, the Oceanic 143, at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023. This 43.5-meter explorer, designed in collaboration with Arrabito Naval Design and chief naval architect Giovanni Senatore, features a cutting-edge twin-stepped hull and bulbous bow.

The ‘Three Gorges Hydrogen Boat No 1’, China’s first hydrogen-powered vessel, made its maiden voyage in Yichang City in central China’s Hubei Province on Wednesday morning, marking a breakthrough in the country’s application of hydrogen fuel cell technology in inland waterway vessels.

UK studio Dixon Yacht Design has revealed a 70.6-metre superyacht concept called Juno JR. An evolution of the studio's 106-metre Juno, this concept intends to "harmonise the best of motor yacht and sailing yacht design" in a more compact package. Geared toward the "environmentally conscious owner", Juno JR is equipped with twin Southern Spars Dyna rigs for efficient and easy sail operations. All design, including naval architecture, has been completed in-house.
