Company Introduction
Astronomic auctions for ancient wines recovered from the bottom of the sea, skepticism from inside the winemaking industry, and the fantastic evolution attributed to these wines, motivated us to create Crusoe Treasure.
Crusoe Treasure began its investigation in October of 2009 with 27 different wineries from 14 Denominations of Origin throughout Spain. For more than 2 years, we studied the evolution of wine and the astonishing results achieved by aging wine underwater, on the bottom of the sea. At the same time independent laboratory studies were performed by Excell Ibérica, located in Logroño, La Rioja, by Doctor of Enology, Antonio Palacios. The surprising results of these analyses served to confirm what we had discovered. Crusoe Treasure, the first underwater wine in the world was born. Our bodega, located beneath the waves in the Bay of Plentzia in Northern Spain rests at a depth of 20 meters. It is specifically designed to attract marine life and create a unique ecosystem.
