At Bodhi Park, we are proud to be an olive tree plantation and olive oil processing farm located in the picturesque Bergrivier area of the Western Cape. Our journey began in 2017 with a focus on producing premium-quality extra virgin olive oil for human consumption. Since then, we have cultivated over 50,000 olive trees, featuring renowned varieties such as Frantoio, Koroneiki (Greek), Coratina, Leccino, and Arbequina.
The climate at Bodhi Park is especially well-suited to olive cultivation, as it closely mirrors the ideal Mediterranean conditions in which olive trees naturally thrive. The Western Cape region is characterized by warm, dry summers and mild, moist winters, with relatively low rainfall during the summer months. While the area experiences limited rainfall, we efficiently utilize groundwater irrigation to ensure that our olive trees receive the necessary water for optimal growth and production. This combination of climate and sustainable water management allows us to nurture healthy and productive olive trees.
Building on this strong foundation, our commitment to excellence continues in our production process. At Bodhi Park, we are dedicated to producing the highest quality extra virgin olive oil. We ensure that freshly harvested olives are processed the very same day to preserve their natural goodness. Using the traditional cold press method, we not only enhance the rich, fresh flavor of the olive oil but also maintain its essential nutrients and beneficial minerals, ensuring every bottle delivers the finest quality and health benefits.
In 2024, we produced 30,000 liters of olive oil and bottled over 60,000 bottles. Each of our finished products underwent rigorous testing in laboratories by the SA Olive Association. The results showed a fruitiness rating of 4, a bitterness of 4.5, and a pepperiness of 4.6. The olive oil was described as a well-balanced extra virgin oil with a persistent flavor. Since its production, our olive oil has been enjoyed by the local community and has also been shipped overseas to international markets.
