Ikea is launching a limited-edition collection in conjunction with fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck that will be available in its U.S. later this month.

Glödande is a playful collection encompassing pre-cut fabrics, stationery, shopping bags, rugs, porcelain and linen. Van Beirendonck wanted to tell a story, Ikea said, so the entire collection is based on his story of the Wondermooi, five cloud-dwelling creatures whose distinct personalities weave their way through all Glödande items. “You never know what Walter will do next. I like that and want to bring more of this into Ikea,” said Henrik Most, creative leader at Ikea of Sweden.

“The way he mixes this unpredictability with color, pattern and print are what make him the master of what he does. That is what Ikea learned from this fantastically wonderful and odd collaboration.”
