"The huge growth of the industry is based on strong manufacturing, from the supply of raw materials to now, becoming exporters with skilled workers, excellent design capabilities and good manufacturing processes." Matrade said.
In 2020, the export value of the industry was 12.86 billion yuan (about RMB 199 billion), with 15.5% of the two digits growth than the previous year.
Malaysia' s furniture products are exported to more than 160 countries, mainly including wooden bedrooms, living rooms and kitchen furniture, and seats and furniture parts made from other materials.
Matrade said that the garden or outdoor furniture made with tropical hardwood is also popular with European consumers.
Today, Malaysia' s furniture can be seen in the United States, Japan, Singapore, Australia and the United Kingdom, and in Nordic countries, Central Europe, South America, South Korea and South Asia have great export potential.
