    Philips Lighting announced a LED Horticultural Lighting Project

    Philips Lighting announced that it will provide LLC Agro-Invest, Russia’s most innovative greenhouse produce company, with LED grow lights to support cultivation of tomatoes and cucumbers in greenhouses covering an area of more than 25 hectares (equivalent in size to about 40 soccer pitches). The project, which is the largest LED horticultural lighting project ever undertaken, will enable year-round growing, help boost yields - especially in the winter - and will save 50 percent on energy costs compared to conventional high-pressure sodium lighting. The project also underlines a global trend for large-scale LED horticultural lighting implementations that can support demand for locally grown produce.

Today Royal Philips announced its intention to offer approximately 17.1 million shares in Philips Lighting, currently owned by Royal Philips, to institutional investors by means of an accelerated bookbuild offering (the “Offering”). The Offering represents approximately 12% of Philips Lighting’s issued share capital. Philips Lighting will not receive any proceeds from the sale.

    Philips Lighting Unveils New Philips GreenPower LED Toplighting Light Recipe for European Market at Rose Event

    Philips Lighting unveiled its new Philips GreenPower LED toplighting with a light spectrum optimized for cut rose cultivation at an event of the Philips Rose Expertise Group. The new GreenPower LED toplighting with cut rose spectrum allows growers to increase light levels year-round without increasing heat. During extensive trials undertaken by research institutes Delphy and Wageningen University, and monitored by experienced rose growers, the new lighting with cut rose spectrum improves the quality of the roses and is 40% more energy efficient compared to high-pressure sodium (HPS) lighting.

NIMS will enter new licensing contracts with companies to which these patents are applicable.
