    Philips Lighting at IFA 2017 announced that it plans a new immersive entertainment capability that will enable Philips Hue to sync perfectly with all manner of entertainment content, bringing users thrilling immersive experiences when gaming, watching movies or listening to music. To mark the 5th birthday of the world’s most popular smart home lighting system, the company also announced enhanced smart home functionality for Apple HomeKit as well as new lamps, multi-packs and starter kits.

    Delphi Display Systems, a visual engagement technology company, announced that they completed the installation of two large format LED digital signs at the site of the new headquarters for the Pacific Symphony and OC Music and Dance.     Philips Lighting Intends to Repurchase 2.8 Million of its Ordinary Shares From Royal Philips

    Philips Lighting announces that it intends to repurchase 2.8 million of its ordinary shares from its largest shareholder Royal Philips. Today Royal Philips announced its intention to offer approximately 17.1 million shares in Philips Lighting, currently owned by Royal Philips, to institutional investors by means of an accelerated bookbuild offering (the “Offering”). The Offering represents approximately 12% of Philips Lighting’s issued share capital. Philips Lighting will not receive any proceeds from the sale.

    ON Semiconductor Orders Veeco MOCVD System

    Veeco Instruments announced that ON Semiconductor has ordered its Propel High-volume Manufacturing (HVM) Gallium Nitride (GaN) Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) system. Based on its successful beta evaluation of the Propel HVM tool, ON Semiconductor ordered the production-level Propel system for GaN power electronics manufacturing. As the industry’s first single-wafer cluster platform, the Propel GaN MOCVD system is specifically designed for high-voltage power-management devices used in data centers; automotive, information and communication technology; defense; aerospace and power distribution systems, among other applications.

    The National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in Japan has announced that the licensing scheme for its comprehensive patent on red phosphor has been changed since October 1, 2018.
