    Intersections and T-junctions are notorious traffic trouble spots. Many accidents, which occur at intersections, are due to human error. Problems such as lack of attention, misjudging the situation, and occluded cars or other vulnerable road users account for many accidents and road fatalities worldwide. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 51 percent of all injury crashes and 28 percent of all fatal crashes in the United States occur at intersections.

    Analog Devices Partners First Sensor to Develop LiDAR Products for Autonomous Driving

    Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) announced the collaboration with First Sensor AG to develop products aimed at speeding the launch of autonomous sensing technology serving unmanned automotive, aerial and underwater vehicles in transportation, smart agriculture, industrial manufacturing and other industries. As part of the collaboration, Analog Devices and First Sensor are developing offerings that shrink the LiDAR signal chain to enable higher system performance as well as reduce size, weight, power and cost for manufacturers designing sensing and perception technology into their autonomous safety systems. The companies also plan to develop other LiDAR products that will serve automotive and industrial manufacturing applications.

    Ams Partners Ibeo and ZF to Deliver LiDAR Technology for Autonomous Driving

    Austria-based sensor developer ams announces that it has signed an agreement to team with Ibeo Automotive Systems, the German specialist for automotive LiDAR sensor technology, and ZF Friedrichshafen, automotive technology developer, to advance LiDAR technology for use in autonomous driving and other applications. The three companies will partner on joint R&D efforts to ensure that this exciting technology can be quickly and safely adopted by 2021.

    Hybrid Quantum Dot Light Emitting Electrochemical Cells

    Several new light generation technologies that are overshadowed by LEDs and OLEDs are investigated. Most of these technologies are in a very early stage of research.     EnOcean Presents the First Self-Powered Bluetooth® Sensor for Intelligent Lighting Control

    At CES 2019 in Las Vegas (January 8-11, 2019), EnOcean, world leader in energy harvesting wireless technology, will be launching a new ceiling-mounted solar-powered occupancy sensor (PIR) for Bluetooth lighting control systems communicating via Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE). It will be the first self-powered Bluetooth® occupancy sensor on the market integrating EnOcean’s field-proven energy harvesting technology and offering best customer experience by being maintenance-free, freely positionable, highly flexible and easy to install. The new sensor, in a small and functional housing design, will add to EnOcean’s Easyfit portfolio of battery-free Bluetooth® switches and perfectly support the company’s strategy to easily provide precious data for the digitalization of buildings using LED lighting systems as data backbone for intelligent control.
