    Samsung Launches World’s First Onyx Multiplex Theater in Shanghai

    Samsung introduced the world’s first Onyx multiplex theater at Shanghai ARCH Wanda Cinema on September 7th. The theater offers six Samsung Onyx Cinema LED screens in one location, creating an entertaining space to offer impressive visual experiences.



    The six Onyx Cinema LED screens at Shanghai ARCH Wanda Cinema support 3D content, creating reality features with high brightness and industry leading 3D dimensional depth. The high dynamic range (HDR) picture refinement technology intensifies the image to the brightest levels with sharper and more detail-rich presentation. Harman’s JBL Sculpted Surround sound audio will enhance the viewing experiences of the audience by providing sound effects harmonized with the content with speakers around the theater.

    Several new light generation technologies that are overshadowed by LEDs and OLEDs are investigated. Most of these technologies are in a very early stage of research. One such technology, the LEC technology, was presented at LpS 2017. Light emitting electrochemical cells can be compared to OLEDs, but they are based on a much simpler inorganic architecture.
