    LG OLED Canyon' Amazes CES Visitors

    Welcoming visitors to LG's sprawling CES booth adjacent to the main entrance of the Las Vegas Convention Center, the LG OLED Canyon features 90 concave and 156 convex Open Frame 4K UHD screens.

     

    A unique, immersive installation that leverages flexible, eye-popping commercial display technology from LG Electronics (LG), is wowing attendees at CES 2018 this week. The winding 92-foot-long "LG OLED Canyon" features 246 LG Open Frame OLED displays, in concave and convex configurations, giving tens of thousands of visitors a one-of-a-kind experience of natural wonders.


    LG OLED technology uses self-lighting pixels for exact control of image brightness and quality, and with no separate light source the displays are extremely lightweight, thin and flexible. Using this unique technology, LG Open Frame OLED displays for business-to-business applications are able to flex for a truly customizable approach that is both a work of art and functional digital signage.

    Samsung and LG Showcases LED Signage Solutions at ISE 2019

    Last week at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2019 in Amsterdam, Korean electronics producers LG and Samsung both introduced their latest LED and OLED technologies for signage applications. Samsung presented a range of 8K digital signage products including QLED displays and the 2019 version of The Wall display while LG demonstrate a transparent and curving OLED signage as well as a full lineup of LED products.

    LGD Intend to Shut Down LCD Plants and Prioritize OLED

    Vice Chairman of Korean panel maker LG Display (LGD) Sang-Beom Han announced in July that by the end of 2017, LCD panel Fab P2, P3, and P4 in Gumi would be shut down. Fab P4 is officially closed. Sources pointed out that LGD is accelerating the transformation to pare down LCD Lines.

Meanwhile, the market scale of indoor fine pitch display is forecasted to reach up to US$ 1.997 billion with a YoY growth of 39%.

    LG and Samsung Continue Their Competition in the Display Industry

    LG and Samsung have been competing in the field of display, showcasing their novel display technology in international fairs one after another. Samsung revealed “the Wall,” the 146-inch Micro LED modular TV at the CES event in the beginning of the year and by the end of August, LG introduced its 173-inch Micro LED TV at the IFA. Aside from Micro LED, the two companies also fought against each other in the high-end TV market by releasing large sized OLED TVs.
