Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute Develops Mobile Device Disinfecting Solution with UVC LEDs

Worldwide technology builders are accelerating UVC LED developments for disinfecting applications aiming to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Lately we have seen many new products and technologies debuted and here comes a new UVC LED innovation from the German research center, Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics, System Technology and Image Evaluation, which is part of the Applied System Technology AST branch (IOSB-AST).

tobias trübenbacher, a product design student at the university of the arts berlin, has designed ‘IGNIS’ – a tool that uses the heat of flames, transforms it into electricity and stores it to provide light and power whenever and wherever it is needed. currently, nearly two billion people worldwide have no access to modern energy services, and more than half of them live completely without electricity. with this in mind, trübenbacher has developed this project to generate power in remote locations, or in situations after natural disasters and crises when means to electricity is vital.

Hollis+Morris’s BLOOM Collection is Inspired by Nature

At last week’s ICFF 2019, Hollis+Morris’s Mischa Couvrette unveiled BLOOM’s contemporary Willow and Catkin lights in a mysterious, minimalist, and immersive design installation inspired by a view of nature. The inspiration for the three piece lighting collection was found in the catkin, a bud that appears on trees at the beginning of spring that lent itself to an in-depth investigation of the sphere, as well as spacing and scale.

Liz West’s Latest Installation “Colour Transfer” Opens in London

British artist Liz West, a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, once again explores the interplay of light, color, and reflection in her latest artwork, “Colour Transfer.” The site specific sculpture, which just opened in June, is West’s first permanent piece in London, located at Paddington Central underneath the station’s Westway Bridge. The artwork was commissioned by British Land and curated by Rosie Glenn for Paddington Central, London and is on permanent display.

Ams Partners Ibeo and ZF to Deliver LiDAR Technology for Autonomous Driving

Austria-based sensor developer ams announces that it has signed an agreement to team with Ibeo Automotive Systems, the German specialist for automotive LiDAR sensor technology, and ZF Friedrichshafen, automotive technology developer, to advance LiDAR technology for use in autonomous driving and other applications. The three companies will partner on joint R&D efforts to ensure that this exciting technology can be quickly and safely adopted by 2021.
